Data
The NSF Unidata Program Center provides Earth Systems Science data from a variety of sources to researchers and educators at no cost. To find the data you need, select from the Data menu at rightabove. Explore the topics below to learn more about how to work with data.
Data can be accessed by either “push” (event driven) or “pull” (select what you want when you want it) technologies.
Push technologies allow you to configure your system so that data is delivered to your site when it becomes available, based on rules you define. The Internet Data Distribution system takes advantage of the push technology embodied in NSF Unidata's Local Data Manager.
Pull technologies allow you to select data sets (or portions of data sets) to retrieve on demand. NSF Unidata's THREDDS Data Server (TDS) provides and elegant way to store and serve scientific data sets.
