WRF Model Output Visualization with IDV

The Unidata Program Center's Yuan Ho reprised the Visualization of Geoscience at the Speed of Thought demonstration he presented at the December 2011 American Geophysical Union meeting to a local NCAR audience on December 20, 2011.

Ho demonstrated the interactive visualization and analysis features of Unidata's Integrated Data Viewer (IDV) to staff members from the NCAR Earth System Laboratory's Mesoscale and Microscale Meteorology (MMM) division, who work extensively with the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model. Modern interactive tools like the IDV allow researchers to analyze the output from climate simulation models quickly and easily.

The IDV provides new and innovative ways to display and analyze Earth science data in two, three, and four dimensions. Its users range from weather enthusiasts viewing daily weather data to climate researchers, satellite meteorologists, oceanographers, and geophysicists.
