Chinook winds (of change)!

Spring is in the air in Boulder, Colorado, and hearts and minds are changing as quickly as the trees are blooming! One unnamed developer within Unidata has had his heart enlarge so much that it would make the Grinch blush. He even purchased a personalized license plate to tell the world of his newfound love:

GRIB FOR THE WIN! LOLZ!

Regarding his change of heart, the developer was overheard saying

There is a certain beauty in the ugliness of GRIB. It's like beauty and the beast - even the beast needs love. I mean, really, Shakespeare said it best when he wrote 'a rose by any other name would still have a name', or something like that, just like a GRIB variable with any other table would still have a name-ish-thingy. It's so poetic; I  think I'm going to cry...<sobbing>

Not to be outdone, another developer (who is well known for his love of netCDF) has also turned a new leaf and embraced the beloved GRIB format - a new personalized license plate is in order for him as well!

The 1989 plate makes this EVIL! Poor netCDF!

Not to "jump the shark", but I think it's safe to say you can consider this post a deprecation warning the sunset announcement for a certain set of Unidata libraries.
