Supervisory Meteorologist, Aviation Weather Center

NOAA is searching for a Supervisory Meteorologist to work at the National Weather Service (NWS), National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), Aviation Weather Center (AWC) with one vacancy located in Kansas City, MO.

The Supervisory Meteorologist will:

  • Administer forecasting of aviation hazards and other significant mesoscale weather developments for the multi-billion-dollar aviation and aircraft industry of the United States.
  • Oversee the application of the latest advances in the science to Aviation Weather Center (AWC) operations, ensuring that the latest technological advances relating to the aviation weather program are being considered and implemented when they are applicable to the mission of the center.
  • Manage, direct and supervise the operations performed by the National Aviation Meteorologist unit.
  • Represent the National Weather Service (NWS) and the AWC in contact with scientific and policy-making officials of national and international governments.
