Supervisory Meteorologist at National Hurricane Center

NOAA is looking for a Meteorologist to work in the National Weather Service (NWS), National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), National Hurricane Center (NHC) in Miami, Florida. The person hired will serve as the Branch Chief of the Tropical Analysis and Forecast Branch (TAFB) performing the following duties:

  • Providing supervisory oversight of and participation in TAFB operations to meet mission requirements to produce tropical weather analyses, gridded and text marine forecasts, and warnings.
  • Participating in a variety of the office’s administrative and programmatic planning and execution functions.
  • Identifying and facilitating implementing enhancements to operational tropical marine ocean and weather products and services, and associated operational systems such as AWIPS, N-AWIPS, PC systems, and Internet.
  • Representing the office and occasionally NWS in activities associated with the nation’s marine forecast and warning program, as well as serving as a spokesperson to NWS and key marine stakeholders during significant marine weather-related events.
