[netCDF #UPJ-631996]: can't compile netcdf 4.1beta2

No, unfortunately we can't reproduce that problem here, however there are 
reports
that HDF5-1.8.3-snap2 and later releases have fixed the first problem you 
mention.
We are currently testing our snapshot software against HDF5-1.8.3-snap2, and it 
builds successfully in many Linux environments:
