[netCDF #CQG-818179]: space or control-character problem ...

Hi,

This was a bug in the ncdump distributed with netCDF 4.0, and
was fixed in later "snapshot" releases.  You can either try a
current "snapshot" release available from

  ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/snapshot/netcdf-4-daily.tar.gz

or wait until the 4.0.1 release is announced and made available
in October.
