[netCDF #VRB-949421]: NCO File

Hi Mez,

NCO files could refer to data files processed by programs from the NetCDF
Operators (NCO) package developed and maintained by Charlie Zender:

  http://nco.sourceforge.net/

Although NCO programs can output text, they are primarily intended to take
netCCDF files as input and produce netCDF files as output. NetCDF files
typically use a ".nc" extension in the file name, but that's just a convention.
Some older netCDF files might also use a ".cdf" filename extension.

If the filenames confirm these are netCDF files, you can use the "ncdump"
utility program to see the structure of the data. The ncdump program is part
of the freely available netCDF package:

  ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/netcdf.tar.gz

which is documented here:
