I think this is a question for the ECOMSED support staff, since the
assertion failures you are encountering evidently occur in ECOMSED
functions, such as in libbfd.c, putcdf.f, and libbfd.c, none of which
are part of netCDF.  Also the undefined references to `kmzsave_',
`amzsave_', and `wzsave_' are from an ECOMSED source, tscdf.f.
