I was able to build netcdf-3.5.0 from sources on Mac OS X 10.1.2,
using any of 3 sets of environment variable settings available from
here:

  http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/netcdf/INSTALL.html#macosx

however I did not have access to a Fortran-90 compiler for Mac OS X,
so did not build the Fortran-90 interface. I made the result available
as you requested.

An alternative for getting the binary distribution for netcdf as well
as much other useful open source software for MacOS X is to use
"fink":

  http://fink.sourceforge.net/

The Fink project makes netcdf-3.5.0 available in the "sci" section.
Once you have installed the fink components, it should be as easy as
invoking:

  fink install netcdf

to download, patch, compile, and install the latest netCDF
distribution.
