Odd.  Why would the make(1) utility complain about not know how to make
"netcdf.mod"?

Would you please do the following:

    1.  Go to the top-level source directory.

    2.  Send me the output from the following command:
    
            grep NETCDF.MOD macros.make

    3.  Drop into the "f90/" subdirectory.

    4.  Send me the output from the following command:
    
            grep NETCDF.MOD Makefile

    5.  Send me the output from the command "make -n install".
