John,

The FAQ on the Netcdf web page addresses the Y2K issue.
Basically, NetCDF does not use any dates as a data type,
so there are no Y2K issues. NetCDF is a library for
data storage- and therefore it is up to the users who
store data to determine any conventions for time.
