WXP can read some netCDF files, but it does not have the ability to read
in arbitrary netCDF files.

What are you attempting to do with ncdump?  One application that is
able to do a pretty good job on reading arbitrary netCDF files is the
commercially available IDL package.  Do you have access to this package
at Auburn?
