This is probably due to using different compilers (SunOS 4.1.3 has at
least two: /bin/cc and /usr/lang/SC2.0.1/cc). You should ensure that
the same compiler is used to
1. Compile the netCDF package;
2. Compile GMT; and
3. Link the two together.
