[IDV #AEF-303753]: USGS supposed DEM data file

The only USGS DEM format that the IDV supports is the old ASCII DEM format:

> Any ideas?  Does the header part need to be inside the dem file?

Some of this data is being made available through a THREDDS Data Server here:

http://coast-enviro.er.usgs.gov/thredds/bathy_catalog.html

That would be your best option.
