20000727: Display of CIMSS sounder products in GEMPAK

GEMPAK users,

I have made Patch #17 available in the gbuddy ftp area under:

~gbuddy/nawips-5.4/patches/gempak5.4_patch17.tar.Z

This patch will update the GEMPAK routines which access AREA files 
in order to provide the calibrated data values for the color bar when
displaying the CIMSS sounder products in GEMPAK programs as well as in Garp.
The displayu pointer in Garp will return the calibrated data value for the
pixel. The patch also contains several color enhancement tables I have put 
together for these products.

To update your distribution:

download the tarfile to your $NAWIPS directory, then:

1) unpack the tarfile

zcat gempak5.4_patch17.tar.Z | tar xvf -

2) update the gemlib image routines

cd $GEMPAKHOME/source/gemlib/im
make clean
make all
make clean

3) rebuild and install GEMPAK programs which display satellite images

cd $GEMPAKHOME/source/programs
make clean
make all
make install
make clean

4) Update Garp

cd $GARPHOME
make clean
make all
make install
make clean

5) Update NSAT

cd $NAWIPS/nprogs/nsat
make clean
make all
make install
make clean


The CIMSS sounder products are available in the Unidata/Wisconsin 
data stream under the feedtype MCIDAS as announced:
