19990127: GEMPAK Question

Colin,
To contour isopleths, you need to run oabsfc on the surface
data to create a gridded data set. Then, you can use
gdcntr on the data to overlay the isopleths on the surface plot,
just as you would model data output.

You can use model data (such as the RUC) rather than gridding
the surface data if you don't want to do the gridding step.
Since hourly surface observations are probably reasonably
complete by ~10 minutes after the hour, you could schedule
the oabsfc to run about that time automatically.

There is still no way to skip the gridding step for contours
directly from the surface or upperair data.
