[AWIPS #VEE-485227]: Cloud Edex

Hi there,

Okay, great. That's definitely something AWIPS can do.

> Thanks for the specs on the hardware. Are there special steps or accesses for
> the data to be ingested?

This is a great question. Getting the data is probably the hardest part,
logistically, if you don't have internal NOAA
feed access (which I don't think any private entities do). I know it is
possible to get the data from other places,
write scripts, and then ingest it into your EDEX server, but I don't know
details on where those data sources are.

The other option is for us to possibly provide you the data. Unfortunately, we
don't offer our data feeds for free to
private entities, but I believe we can work out commercial contract agreements
for cases such as yours. If you go down
that route, then we distribute the data via LDM which is the exact service EDEX
uses to receive it's data. So, ingesting
it into your server is seamless.

> Is the Lightning data available? Or its just the GLM?

Also another great question. I think for the most part GLM is the only
lightning data we have available. We do have
another lightning data source, but they have some restrictions on the
sharing/use of their data. I would have to follow
up with some colleagues to get more clarification about that data.

Let us know if this all makes sense and if you have any additional questions.
Thanks!
