Jhamieka Greenwood joined the Unidata Program Center as a student summer intern on May 29, 2023. After receiving a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Florida A&M University, she worked with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection before earning a Master's degree in Computational Science from Florida State University (FSU). Jhamieka is now pursuing a PhD in Computational Science at FSU.
Registration for the 2023 Unidata Users Workshop is open through May 15.
The Unidata Users Committee invites you to join Unidata staff, community members, and distinguished speakers this June in Boulder, Colorado. The goal of this year's workshop is to raise awareness about how to access and use Earth Systems Science data, and to explore approaches to tell the stories of our science in a way that is reproducible, responsible, and robust. Scientists and educators from the Earth Systems Science community will present ideas and techniques for making effective use of geoscience data and share activities, course materials, and ideas for improving education and research.
The workshop, titled Storytelling with Earth System Science Data: Challenges and Opportunities for Effective, Ethical, and Reproducible Science, is scheduled for June 5-8, 2023.

The NSF Institute for Geospatial Understanding through an Integrative Discovery Environment (I-GUIDE) enables transformative discovery and innovation for tackling fundamental scientific and societal challenges that are at the cusp of achieving significant breakthroughs by harnessing the vast, diverse, and ever-growing corpus of geospatial data. The week of August 7-11 2023, I-GUIDE will lead a Summer School on Convergence Science in Action in Boulder, CO.
Do you use Unidata software packages? Do you love to write code or teach others about data-centered Earth System Science? Maybe you're just interested in the interplay of science and data? The Unidata Summer Internship program is looking for you!
The Unidata Summer Internship offers undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to work with Unidata Program Center staff on projects drawn from a wide variety of areas in the atmospheric and computational sciences. Unidata's mission is to support the Earth System Science research and education community with data and tools for data access, analysis, and visualization. As a Unidata intern, you'll pursue the goal of adding innovative enhancements to data access, analysis, and visualization tools developed within Unidata.
We at the Unidata Program Center are delighted to have three student interns with us for the 2022 Summer Internship Program. Click through to read their introductions.
Nathaniel Martinez joined the Unidata Program Center as a student summer intern on May 31, 2022. He is a rising 4th year student at the University of Chicago in Chicago, IL, where he is working towards a double major in computer science and environmental science.
Rhoen Fiutak joined the Unidata Program Center as a student summer intern on May 23, 2022. She completed her bachelor's degree in physics from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT in May 2019 and went on to complete her master's degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA in August 2021. She is entering her second year as a master's student at Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO this fall, in the applied mathematics program.
