The Unidata Summer Internship offers undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to work with Unidata software engineers and scientists on projects drawn from a wide variety of areas in the atmospheric and computational sciences. Unidata's mission is to support the Earth Science research and education community with data and tools for data access, analysis, and visualization. As a Unidata intern, you'll pursue the goal of adding innovative enhancements to data access, analysis, and visualization tools developed within Unidata.

The Unidata Program Center's two summer student interns — Florita Rodriguez from Texas A&M Univeristy in College Station, TX, and Shawn Cheeks from Marshall University in Huntington, WV — have come to the end of their summer appointments. After a summer's dilligent work, they presented the results of their projects to the UPC staff on July 29, 2014.

Since late May 2013, the Unidata Program Center has been fortunate to play host to this year's Summer Intern, Shawn Cheeks, who is entering his Junior year at Marshall University in West Virginia this fall. He has worked on a number of software projects, including one developing an Android app for reporting severe weather events. Shawn has also worked with folks at the Charleston WFO on some testing, so he's no newcomer to working with weather data.
The DataONE 2013 Summer Internship program is now open for applications by undergraduate students, graduate students, and postgraduates who have received their masters or doctorate within the past five years. There are nine projects and up to eight will be funded.
Update: The Unidata Student Internship is available to juniors and seniors in undergraduate programs as well as to students in graduate-level programs
