Version 4.4.1.1 of the NetCDF-C library is now available. This is a maintenance release containing several important bug fixes. The Unidata netCDF team recommend migrating to netCDF 4.4.1.1 as soon as is possible to avoid a potential — albeit extremely rare — data loss issue in ncgen specific to 64-bit environments when using netCDF4 compound data types. Please read the full release announcement for details.
Unidata's annual Software Training Workshops at the Unidata Program Center in Boulder, Colorado provide training and guidance on the use of Unidata software packages. While the workshops are designed primarily to benefit the academic community, representatives from government agencies and commercial entities are also invited to participate. This year's workshop ran from October 17-28, and saw strong attendance from all three groups.
In recent years we have heard from community members that it is more and more difficult to attend training workshops held at the Program Center in Boulder. As a result, we are asking for your input on the sorts of software training that would be most useful, in the hope of maximizing the benefits for our academic members while continuing to serve the larger community. Version 4.4.1 of the NetCDF-C library is now available. This release provides official support for libhdf5 1.10.0.
Note: netCDF library 4.4.0 or earlier, combined with libhdf5 1.10.0 or greater, will generate netCDF-4 format files that cannot be read by software using earlier versions of libhdf5 (1.8.x), regardless of the version of netCDF.
Read on for additional highlights of this release beyond support for libhdf5 version 1.10.0.
