The 2018 AGU Fall Meeting will be held 10-14 December 2018 in Washington, DC. This year the Earth and Space Science Informatics (ESSI) section will include a session that may be of special interest to Unidata community members: “IN033: Enabling Cloud Applications for Earth Science Data.”
NOAA is looking for three Meteorologist/Hydrologists to work in the National Weather Service (NWS), River Forecast Center (RFC). There are two vacancies located in Slidell, LA and one vacancy located in Peachtree City, GA. All three are entry-level positions.

Esri, makers of the popular ArcGIS geographic information system software package, will be hosting a webinar aimed at learning how to transform weather and climate data into actionable information. The webinar will be held on June 20, 2018 from 10:00 - 11:00am Pacific Daylight Time, and is free to attend.
WarnGen bug fixes: for practice sessions, the WarnGen app no longer uses JMS to send/verify messages between client and server, instead sending the generated message directly to a TextWS window for editing, keeping everything client-side.

Jonathan Thielen joined the Unidata Program Center as a software development summer intern on May 21, 2018. Jonathan will be a senior this fall at Iowa State University, majoring in meteorology and mathematics. His current research revolves around WRF sensitivity studies, focusing on convective morphology of mesoscale convective systems. This summer, Jon will be working on further integrating xarray into MetPy and implementing cross section functionality.
