[netCDF #EBU-760405]: problem compiling netcdf-4.0-beta1

Howdy Deidre!

You need to get the latest HDF5 release (which they call 1.8.0-rc2), and the
latest netCDF-4 snapshot release.

You can get both from the netCDF-4 snapshot release page (but you have to
register for the unidata site to get there):
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf/builds/snapshot/netcdf-4/

Or you can get the netCDF snapshot from the netCDF home page:
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/netcdf/

and the HDF5 rc2 release from their site.

Due to changes in the HDF5 API, earlier releases (i.e. HDF5 1.8.0-beta5) are
not supported. Only the rc2 release of HDF5 will work with the current netCDF-4
snapshot.
