For your problem, it should not matter whether you built with the
--disable-largefiles option.

It looks like you Makefile doesn't include the libnetcdf.a library after
libnetcdf_c++.a.  The C++ library calls functions in the C library, since
it is implemented as a thin veneer on top of the C library.
