[netCDF #VVZ-317713]: Which binary works on Intel-Apple machines?

I don't think so.  The ncdump and ncgen utility programs may work under Rosetta
on MacOS X, but I think you would have problems linking applications with the
PowerPC libraries.  Also the binaries for Mac OS X don't have a Fortran
interface, because Mac OS X doesn't come with a Fortran compiler.

But that's OK, the netCDF 3.6.2 souces build and install out of the box on Mac
OS X, so it's pretty easy to get going, depending on what Forrtan compiler you
have installed.  I think for WRF, you probably want the Intel Fortran compiler,
ifort.

This works fine with gcc, according to this user report:
