Mike,

Instead of using a precompiled binary, build netcdf on the target
system. Get the tar ball:

ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/netcdf-3.6.0-p1.tar.gz

Then try to link to the newly built netcdf library.

Let me know whether that works.
