Howdy!

First get the latest version of netcdf (3.6.0) from the netCDF
homepage:

http://my.unidata.ucar.edu/content/software/netcdf/index.html

Then follow the instructions here:

http://my.unidata.ucar.edu/content/software/netcdf/docs/netcdf-install/Quick-Instructions-for-Installing-NetCDF-on-Unix.html#Quick-Instructions-for-Installing-NetCDF-on-Unix

If that doesn't work, follow the instructions here:

http://my.unidata.ucar.edu/content/software/netcdf/docs/netcdf-install/If-Something-Goes-Wrong.html#If-Something-Goes-Wrong

Good luck!
