If you've installed the netCDF package, then you must ensure that the
"bin" installation-directory of the package is referenced in your PATH
environment variable.  For example:

    $ ncdump
    bash: ncdump: command not found
    $ PATH=$PATH:/upc/netcdf/bin ncdump /dev/null
    ncdump: /dev/null: Not a netCDF file

The above holds for all standard-conforming user shells.  For
non-standard shells (e.g., csh(1), tcsh(1)) the syntax is different:

    % ncdump
    ncdump: command not found
    % set path=($path /upc/netcdf/bin)
    % ncdump /dev/null
    ncdump: /dev/null: Not a netCDF file
