If "make test" produces error messages, I don't think you should rely
on the installation, even if "make install" succeeded.  Until "make
test" succeeds, I wouldn't even attempt to run "make install".  We
would need more information than you have provided above to diagnose
the problems with "make test".  You may also be running into problems
that were already fixed in the netCDF 3.5.0 or netCDF 3.5.1-beta3
distributions from:

  ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/

It's easiest for us to help if you send a problem report that includes
the outputs described under the "Reporting Problems" section at the
end of the installation document:

  http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/netcdf/INSTALL.html#ReportingProblems

and send the problem report to "address@hidden" so you will
get a reply even if I am away from my email.
