Richard,

The fortran interface to netCDF comes as part of the package. It will
be built if your Fortran compiler is installed in a "standard" location,
of if you tell configure where to find the Fortran compiler (through
the FC environment variable).
Please review the INSTALL document that accompanies the netCDF distribution
for further information.
