We can't duplicate the problem here.  The guides look fine using
/usr/openwin/bin/pageview on Solaris or ghostscript 5.0.3 on an SGI/IRIX
platform.

When I use ghostview 1.5 (a very old version which is the only one I
have access to right now), I get an unrelated error about inability to
scale fonts, but I assume that is a ghostview error.

Can you try pageview instead and see if it works on your Solaris
platform?
