A possible alternative to building the netCDF package from source code
is to install the netCDF binary distribution for your system. The
binary distribution for your system is available at the following URL:
ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/binary/sunos_5.5-sparc/
Get the file "netcdf-3.3.1.tar.Z".
Be advised that this distribution might not work on your system because
it was built using the SC 4.2 development system rather than the SC
4.0 system. Still, it's probably worth a try.
