I just built and tested the netCDF-3 package on our HP-UX A.09.05
A 9000/715 system using the `-R8' option to the fort77(1) FORTRAN
compiler. I tested both the C and FORTRAN APIs. The package passed all
tests -- so it seems that it solves your problem.

It's taking us longer than expected to finish all the minutia necessary
for a release (mostly documentation). Releasing netCDF-3 is our
top-priority right now, so please wait just a little more.
