It's taking longer than we anticipated.  Steve is currently working on
the new FORTRAN interface, and I'm rewriting the User's Guide to
generate separate language-specific User Guides in a way that permits
maintaining common stuff in one place.

I'm presenting a paper and giving a talk on netCDF plans and status at
the start of February, and the paper (which had to be written last
September) discusses the "recently released netcdf-3".  I'm currently
trying to make that phrase true by the time the paper is presented, with
at least a beta release by the end of the month.  But unanticipated
problems may delay that ...
