Yes, I'd like to see the files `cf.log' and `config.log'.  Would you
please send them to me.

Interesting.  As far as I know, the above shouldn't happen and I've been
unable to duplicate your problem on our IRIX64 system:

    $ uname -a
    IRIX64 binnie 6.1 07121831 IP26 mips

I'll need to see those log files.
