Hi Mobi,
This is Jeff.
We tracked down the problem. Its due to an old version of the derived quantities in the plugin you are using. We have a fix for this that will be in tonight's nightly build (Available thursday morning):
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/downloads/idv/nightly/index.jsp
In the meantime - if you remove the formulas_0.2.jar plugin that you have installed and install the attached plugin this will fix your problem.
