[Support #SBB-325304]: Re: 20110712: CONDUIT request -- fire weather grids

Hi Becky and Justin,

OK, I have started looking at the fire weather products...

I snagged all of the files from today's directory,
nam.20110816/nam.t00z.firewxnest.hires*.grib2.
I then ran the version of gribinsert that you should be running at the WOC(s)
and
see that most, but not all of the fields are interpreted by gribinsert. This is
an excellent start!

Very good! Presumably you are running a GEMPAK "decoder" to convert the GRIB2
messages
into GEMPAK grid format, and presumably the GEMPAK decoder being run understands
all of the fields in the nam.*.firewxnest*.grib2 files. If this is true, it
should
mean that all we need to do is update the GEMPAK grid tables that are being used
by gribinsert. The GRIB tables that are used by gribinsert should be installed
in the ~ldm/etc directory. The list of GRIB tables in gribinsert v1.4 is:

g2varsncep0.tbl
g2varsncep1.tbl
g2varswmo1.tbl
g2varswmo2.tbl
g2vcrdncep0.tbl
g2vcrdncep1.tbl
g2vcrdwmo1.tbl
g2vcrdwmo2.tbl
g2vcrdwmo3.tbl
grdnav.tbl
wmocenter.tbl

It is very possible that one or more of these files being used by the routine
that is creating the GEMPAK grids has new additions for one or more of these
files and/or there may be a new version of one or more of the files (e.g.,
a g2varsncep2.tbl, g2vcrdwmo4.tbl, etc.).

Questions:

- exactly what is the code that is creating the GEMPAK grid files for NAWIPS?

- are _all_ of the fields in the firewxhires files available via FTP being
  converted to GEMPAK grid format?

It seems that we are very close to getting everything working...

Cheers,

Tom
