Subject: Termination of NCEPs Legacy Radar Graphics:
           Effective June 11, 2013

Effective Tuesday June 11, 2013, with the 1200 Universal
Coordinated Time (UTC) cycle, the National Centers for
Environmental Prediction (NCEP) will stop producing the legacy
radar summary and radar legend graphics. These products are
distributed via NOAAPORT and are available in AWIPS.

A Public Information Statement was issued on March 26, 2013,
requesting comments on the proposed termination of these
products.

Based on the responses received, NWS will terminate these radar
products on June 11, 2013.

The radar summary is a graphical depiction of the areal coverage
of radar echos. The radar legend has echo tops and bases,
precipitation type, direction of precipitation movement, and echo
areal coverage with contours of intensities of radar echoes for
VIP levels 1, 3, and 5. These radar products are disseminated via
NOAAPORT as Redbook graphics. The WMO headers are PAWO82 KWBC and
PAWO83 KWBC.

Examples of these products are available at:

and:
