HazCollect National Message Monitor & Test Result Reporting

The second HazCollect Field Operational Demonstration (FOD) National ADR Test message is scheduled for Nov 29, 2006 at 3:10 PM EST (2010 UTC). This National test message will not include the state of Alaska. Also, for this test, Eastern Region and Louisiana WFOs have reconfigured the NWEM formatter to broadcast the test message without the SAME tones. The following procedures are provided to help you monitor and provide test results after the test. The office WCM and operations team should have identified all HazCollect state and WFO messages to be received for situational awareness and broadcast on NWR during HazCollect setup.

All sites should follow the instructions in Section I, System Monitor Procedures, then: o If no problems are found, follow the steps in Section II, Successful Test Result Notification Procedures. o If problems are found, then follow the steps in Section III, Problems Reporting Procedures.

I.System Monitor Procedures

1. Did your office receive all state messages you are supposed to?
You should have received one AWIPS red banner alarm for each state ADR message.
Each state message should trigger a red banner alert and each message should be
sent to CRS. WFOs with service areas near or within multiple states should expect to receive messages for each of those states.

However, NWR-ready NWEM messages may not be broadcast on NWR if the NWEM message contains listening areas that are NOT included in the CRS database. An error message may appear in the CRS Alert Monitor window. Under these conditions, the following error message (in yellow with no audible alarm) will appear in the Alert Monitor window: Message from AWIPS contains error(s): No acceptable areas (LACs / zones) The error message appearing in the Alert Monitor window will be
followed by the filename and the Weather Message Correction directory
where it is stored. 2. Did all state messages get broadcast on all appropriate transmitters? Depending on how long the broadcast cycle is on a given transmitter, and where the message gets placed in that cycle, several minutes may pass before the actual broadcast of the ADR test message. To verify actual ADR broadcast, a. Go to the CRS Maintenance menu and select Activity Logs. b. In the Activity Logs window, select Transmit for Log Type and i Date/Time for List Range. c. For From Date/Time, enter 0611292000. d. For To Date/Time, enter 0611292100. e. In the Search box, enter ADR. f. Click on the Save Hotkey in the upper left under File From the retrieved log. g. After a few seconds all the Transmit Log ADR entries between 20:00z and 21:00z will display in the Log List. h. When the response is received, you can verify ADR product broadcast on all appropriate transmitters. i. On the same Log List display, you can also verify that these messages were SAME-coded (except Eastern Region and Louisiana offices).
