SUBJECT: Changes to the NWS Production Suite1. The NWS Telecommunication Operation Center (TOC) has postponed the availability date for the Replacement Telecommunication Gateway (RTG) system. RTG availability is not expected to occur before mid to late December. Once the RTG is available both the old and new gateway systems will run in parallel for 30 days. When the RTG becomes available, both GRIB1 and GRIB2 files will become accessible. The six-month overlap period for GRIB2 will, therefore, not begin until late December and not end until approximately 1 July. At that time, GRIB1 data will no longer be available on the RTG. In the event that customers can not complete the transition to GRIB1 by 1 July, requests to maintain some limited GRIB1 data will be addressed on a case by case basis. 2. The moratorium on changes to the NCEP production suite will continue until the new (Mist) Central Computer System (CCS) becomes operational no later than January 2007. A full parallel production suite is running on Mist. The /com file system on Mist is being populated from the parallel run and is not being mirrored from the operational system. 3.
