1. Phase II of the Central Computer System will become operational at 12Z on
Tuesday, 25 January. It is anticipated that the switch over to the Phase II
system
will be accomplished with no interruption in service. With both a primary and
backup system capable of sustaining NCEP's full computer operation, testing of
NCEP's backup capabilities will now be non disruptive. During routine backup
testing, there will be no delays or interruptions in the flow of numerical
forecast
guidance.
2. The AVN to GFS and Eta to NAM name change will be completed next Tuesday,
25
January, when the Phase II CCS becomes operational. All AVN and Eta files will
be
eliminated on the NCEP and NWS FTP servers on that date. Additional details
