Hurricane Floyd Threatening The Antennas

NOTE: The nws-changes mailing list is no longer active. The list archives are made available for historical reasons.

The forecast track of Hurricane Floyd indicates the storm will move between
Suitland, MD (our receive site) and the Wallops Island CDA (control and
data acquisition). There are currently expectations of having to stow
antennas at both locations in the next 24 hours. SOCC is planning to have
the readout of the Polar satellites moved to Fairbanks as much as possible.
There is a real potential for the loss of GOES data temporarily as the
storm moves through the area. Update messages will be transmitted as
information becomes available.
