     STARTING TODAY  THE CANADIAN METEOROLOGICAL CENTRE /DESIGNATED
     AS THE MONTREAL VOLCANIC ASH ADVISORY CENTRE BY THE INTERNATIONAL 
     CIVIL AVIATION ORGANIZATION/ WILL PREPARE AND ISSUE VOLCANIC ASH 
     MESSAGES WHENEVER ITS AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY IS AFFECTED BY A
VOLCANIC 
     ASH CLOUD.
     
     THE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY OF VAAC MONTREAL IS ALL OF CANADA 
     /INCLUDING THE ARCTIC/  GREENLAND  PORTIONS OF THE ARCTIC TO THE
NORTH 
     AND EAST OF GREENLAND AND A PORTION OF THE NORTH ATLANTIC 
     CORRESPONDING TO GANDER OCEANIC FLIGHT INFORMATION REGION.
     
     MESSAGES WILL BE ISSUED IN PLAIN ENGLISH AND NORMALLY UPDATED EVERY 6 
     HOURS FOR AS LONG AS THE SITUATION WARRANTS UNDER THE FOLLOWING 
     HEADERS
     
     FVCN01 CWAO
     FVCN02 CWAO
     FVCN03 CWAO
     FVCN04 CWAO

 MOST OF THE TIME MESSAGES WILL BE ISSUED UNDER FVCN01 CWAO HEADERS 
     UNLESS THE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY IS AFFECTED BY ASH CLOUDS PRODUCED 
     BY TWO /OR MORE/ DIFFERENT VOLCANOES. IN THE LATTER CASE FVCN02 /AND 
     THE FOLLOWING HEADER NUMBERS  IF NECESSARY/ WILL
     BE USED TO CARRY INFORMATION ON THESE ASH CLOUDS ASSOCIATED TO OTHER 
     VOLCANOES.
