PROTECTION OPERATION ON GOES 9...THERE WILL BE NO GEOSTATIONARY
SATELLITE IMAGERY ON THE FOLLOWING DATES AND TIMES
 
FRIDAY...AUGUST 30 FROM 0415Z TO 0645Z
SATURDAY...AUGUST 31 FROM 0415Z TO 0645Z 
SUNDAY..SEPTEMBER 1 FROM 0415Z TO 0645Z.
     
    
ON MONDAY SEPTEMBER 2...THE MOTOR WINDING PROTECTION OPERATION
WILL AND AND WE WILL BEGIN OPERATION OF THE IMAGER AND SOUNDER ON
GOES 9 DURING THE NIGHTTIME PERIOD.  IN ORDER TO RECOVER INR
ACCURACY DURING THE DATA OUTAGE PERIOD...ON MONDAY AND
TUESDAY...9/2 AND 3... WE WILL RUN A POST MANEUVER RECOVERY
SCHEDULE CONSISTING OF ABBREVIATED FULL DISKS AND 6 AND ONE-HALF
MINUTE STAR WINDOWS FROM 0415 TO 1400Z ON GOES-9 EXCEPT FOR THE
ECLIPSE AND KEEP OUT ZONE PERIODS.  NORMAL ROUTINE OPERATIONS
WILL BE RESUMED ON GOES-9 THROUGHOUT THE DAY ON WEDNESDAY...
SEPTEMBER 4.
     
BEGINNING ON WEDNESDAY...SEPTEMBER 4...SATELLITE OPERATIONS WILL
BEGIN OPERATING GOES-9 IN FULL DISK MODE DURING THE GOES-8
ECLIPSE OUTAGE...AND GOES-8 IN FULL DISK MODE DURING THE GOES-9
ECLIPSE OUTAGE.  THIS IS IN RESPONSE TO AN NWS REQUEST TO PROVIDE
FULL DISK IMAGERY FROM ONE SATELLITE...WHILE THE OTHER SATELLITE
IS IN A SCHEDULED OUTAGE PERIOD OF GREATER THAN ONE HOUR...SUCH
AS DURING ECLIPSE AND SATELLITE MANEUVERS.  FOR THE DURATION OF
THE FALL ECLIPSE PERIOD...GOES 8 WILL BE IN FULL DISK MODE FROM
0745Z THROUGH 1045Z.  GOES-9 WILL BE IN FULL DISK MODE FROM 04Z
TO 0645Z.
