SUBJECT:    DELAYS IN THE AVIATION AND MEDIUM RANGE FORECAST
            (MRF) MODELS

OF THE DEVELOPMENT DIVISION OF NMC.)

NMC has experienced some time delays in the forecast products
after the implementation of the new global model on August 11 at
1200 UTC.  Part of these delays were due to the implementation
and some were unrelated to it.   

Several changes in the system are being tested.  We expect from 
them a speed up in the product delivery times which will be 
monitored over the weekend.  We anticipate a solution to the 
problems early next week.
