Subj: new MRF statistical guidance package

On Fri. 11/20, I sent out a mass mailing of an 8 page package which describes
the new MRF statistical guidance package, station list, format, etc., which is
planned for implementation either Dec. 9 or 10. The package includes a 4-page
cover memo, the complete list of 219 stations (including 14 stations in Alaska
Region, but none for Hawaii or Puerto Rico at this time...probably not until
1995), and a canary yellow reference card, similar to the card we provided
with the new NGM MOS products. The same package has been mailed to internal
(i.e. NWS) and external users.

Within the NWS, the package was mailed to all the RDs and NWS Office Directors,
selected NWSH Division Chiefs, and Directors of other NOAA line offices.
Please do what you can to make this info widely available in your office. The
The package was also mailed to all of the NWS offices on the TPB mailing list,
as follows:

For EASTERN REGION and ALASKA REGION, the packages will be mailed directly
to the sites (as are the TPBs).

For CENTRAL REGION, 115 copies will be to the Director for distribution to
CR offices (as are the TPBs).

For PACIFIC REGION, 5 copies will be mailed to the Director for distribtuion
to PR offices (as are the TPBs).

For WESTERN REGION, 91 copies will be mailed to the Director for distribution
to WR offices (as are the TPBs).

For SOUTHERN REGION, 100 copies will be mailed to the Director for distribu-
tion to SR offices (as are the TPBs).

Externally, the package has been mailed to all TPB subscribers, and to
technical focal points at 60 universities idenitifed by Linda Miller, our
focal point at UCAR/UNIDATA. In addition, we have used the TPO mailing lists
for the Family of Services subscribers and for the AMS broadcasters.

A draft TPB describing these products is in the works at TDL, but won't be
ready in time for implementation. These new products have already been
approved by the Data Review Group, so DRG approval correspondence and an AFOS
change notice will follow, as soon as possible. In addition, I will send an
NTIM AFOS PIL WSHPNSNMC) several days (perhaps one week) before the
implementation date.

Call me (301-713-0462) or John Jensenius (301-763-8151) if you have any
questions. I'll be on AL from noon EST on 11/24 til 11/30.

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody...I'll keep in touch
