[noaaport] S-200 price discount, and other DVB-S2 receivers

Hello everyone,

First, this is NOT an endorsement or advertisement in ANY WAY of the
products below. I provide it only for information to maybe help you
in the NOAAport DVB-S2 transition.

I emailed Michael Borgford, support guy there (and apparently sales, too).
The Novra S-200 will work with the NOAAport DVB-S2 broadcast. It is normally priced at $599. But if you have an S75 already, he offered this
to me:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am pleased to be able to offer you a $100 discount on our S200 DVB-S2 receiver (normal price of $599). In addition I can also offer you a $50 discount because you are an existing S75-NOAA customer. To enable the
$50 discount, I will need to know the MAC address or S/N of your
existing S75 receiver.

Your quote for the S200 is therefore summarized below:

Quote

The S200 is priced at US$449 each plus shipping from Canada.

Terms:

Payment: Visa/MasterCard or T/T to Novra's designated bank at time of order;

Currency: US Dollars;

Shipping Point: Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada;

Packaging: 1 set-up CD and Ethernet cable;

Lead Time:  in-stock;

Warranty: 12 months from date of shipment;

Product Country of Origin: Canada;

Quote valid: 90 days.

This was offered to me; but he did tell me he was going to offer
special pricing to all "NOAA customers" who get the NOAAport broadcast.

Just an FYI...there is a Tevii S464 PCI card that decodes DVB-S2:

There's an email pending on the Yahoo! Groups NOAAport
list to see if it would work for the NOAAport broadcast;
if it did, it would be cheaper. The online references seems to
indicate that it works for video broadcasts only, but no one is sure.
My guess is that it won't do data.

Then there's this:

http://www.vsatplus.net/index.php/ipricot-ipr-s600-dvb-s-s2-satellite-ip-router-receiver.html

But it's $1,200 with tax and shipping.

There's this:

For 1,000 Euros.

Google shows nothing else.

Anybody else have any ideas?
