Hi All,

I work for the Government of Canada and have been looking into the localization
of metadata within a NetCDF file for the purposes of publishing it (bilingual
metadata is a requirement of data publishing at the Government of Canada). I
posted a longer dump of my thoughts here,
https://github.com/cf-convention/discuss/issues/244, but the fine people at
support-netcdf thought this would be a useful venue to discuss as well.
Essentially, I'm looking for a clean way to specify metadata in different
languages in a way that they can be extracted by an application and displayed
to the user depending which language they work in. I had a few thoughts but I
didn't want to rebuild the wheel if there already is a standard and I'd love to
collaborate on such a standard if there is interest.
