new beta release: netcdf-3.6.2-beta4 now available on Unidata FTP site...

Howdy all!

I have just released a new beta version of netCDF: 3.6.2-beta4.

Note that this is a *beta release*, not a full release.

This beta release passes all netCDF tests on all available Unidata
platforms, with the exception of shared libraries on AIX, which I have
not been able to get working. This release also builds windows DLLs on
the mingw and cygwin platforms.

Beta-4 also fixes numerous minor configuration and installation
bugs. It builds static libraries by default, but will build shared
libraries on platforms which support it with the --enable-shared
configure option.

The netCDF Fortran 77 and Fortran 90 man pages have been renamed in
accordance with prevailing man page conventions. Instead of
man3f/netcdf.3f and man3f90/netcdf.3f90, they are now called
man3/netcdf_f77.3 and man3/netcdf_f90.3. Please remove the old man
pages from your system when you install netCDF 3.6.2.

Thanks to all our intrepid and resourceful netCDF beta testers. We
couldn't do it without you! Special thanks to Remko Scharroo of
Altimetrics LLC for pointing out some documentation issues in the last
beta release. You be the man Remko!

The new beta release can be found here:

ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/netcdf-beta.tar.gz

or:

ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/netcdf-beta.tar.Z

As always, please send feedback to support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks,

Ed
