Hi:
An initial cut at a python interface to netCDF 4 is available at
http://www.cdc.noaa.gov/people/jeffrey.s.whitaker/python/netCDF4.html.
It's got an object oriented API modelled after Konrad Hinsen's netcdf 3
module (included in his ScientificPython package), but it supports some
(but not all) netCDF 4 features like groups, multiple unlimited
dimensions, zlib compression and the new primitive data types. It does
not yet support user defined data types (compound, opaque, enum and vlen).
